Salina Presbyterian Manor shares another COVID-19 update 2/22
Salina Presbyterian Manor has identified 14 new cases of COVID-19 at the campus this week, as infection rates in Saline County continue to be high.
Three non-direct resident care employees, five essential health care employees, one independent living resident, and five memory care residents tested positive for COVID-19 this week. The employees last worked between Friday, January 28, and Sunday, January 30, passing pre-shift screening and wearing personal protective equipment as required.
The independent living resident will self-isolate in their residence until they meet the Saline County guidelines for ending COVID-19 isolation.
The memory care residents are in COVID-19 isolation and being cared for by designated team members who are following PMMA’s Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) Policy, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols for infection control and prevention and physician’s orders.
The Saline County Health Department has been notified, and the community will follow their guidance. These new cases bring our total since December 30 to 87 new cases -- 53 employees, 25 residents, 3 students and 6 contract care providers.
Visitation continues with infection control precautions and social distancing requirements per new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. Employee surveillance testing will continue in compliance with CMS requirements for testing based on county COVID-19 transmission rates.
The community will follow the PMMA® EID policy and KDHE and CDC guidelines in determining when employees may return to work and any work restrictions.
Salina Presbyterian Manor encourages all staff members and residents to follow CDC guidelines and best practices as these are continually updated. We have been screening employees as they enter the community building for a shift and before employees have any direct contact with residents. We educate all staff to stay at home if they are experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness or not feeling well.
Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large. PMMA continues to strongly encourage our families, employees and residents to carefully consider obtaining a vaccine for themselves as well as their loved ones.
